I've spotted this CL 63 on 6th Avenue heading uptown. The C216s have become pretty rare, which is making them quite a lovely spot nowadays. They used to be everywhere, but with the introduction of a newer model, the then-old Mercedes models seem to disappear. It's always the same story - when the first ones have depriaceted by 2/3 of their initial price, they're getting really common because people believe they can now afford them. Two years later they disappear altogether as people have realized maintenance is breaking their financial backs and they're solf to those who really want the cars, not only their image. And all those who could afford a new Benz in the first place now have the next one.

I honestly don't think these cars have disappeared, they are just now in suburban areas where one wouldn't normally think to spot (aka the rest of the 99% of America). Used car dealerships have these on their lot as depreciation has hit them so hard that they are now worth as much a "normal" car. They aren't gone per say, they are just gone from the wealthiest areas of the nation.

@Rivitography Yes, that's what I've meant - I wasn't too precise, I'm afraid. The cars still exist, of course, but they've mostly disappeared from spotting areas for the reasons you've mentioned. Those who buy these cars nowadays usually don't feel the need to go to Gucci or Louis V every other day and don't have to go to the same restaurant every satuday :D
