This will be my 1500th post here on AG. The car that I am using for this milestone is a 300 SL Gullwing on vintage New York tags. ( W16 23 ) 1955. I spotted this legend in the valet in front of the F&B Restaurant located off of Peachtree. As we approached the car the Gullwing doors were already up and the very lucky owner was getting ready to claim the car. We only had time for a handful of shots. When the car started up it really sounded fierce and powerful very much like a race car. In fact we could hear the car well out of view accelerating down the street. I have spotted a 300 SL before in Miami and that car did not sound like this one. In fact when I looked over these shots at home I noticed that she had no rear exhaust. The pipes were situated on the passenger side of the vehicle. I did do some research on the internet and found a few pics of a similar car with those same side exhaust tips. That car had decals that read La Carrera Panamericana from the Mexico Race. This car even had the extra lamps on the front nose. A big huge thanks to my Fiance who has been spotting with me religiously for the last two years.

Awesome way to celebrate this milestone! This 300SL is a bit weird thought. I don't like the half chrome delete. If you delete the chrome, ditch it all. Now the front is way to shiny in contrast with the rest of the car. A very big plus is the suitcase set. Brilliant!
    Superb find and photos!

Thank you for all of your recent messages on my posts, Jeffrey. I really do appreciate it, buddy. The thing that I admired the most about this 300SL era of cars, is that you could purchase this car from your local car dealership and then drive it straight to your local race track. Not just for fun but entered in a sanctioned car race, and then drive it straight home. For me it would of been a great thing to see a Ferrari 250 TR delivered to the dealership of Chinetti Motors in New York City in 1957 and then to see and hear it screaming through the streets of Manhattan. To spot this race inspired 300SL in 2020 was the next best thing for me. Thanks once again. @ hardstyler

Hi John. I'm sorry for the late reply, buddy. I just now read your comment. I do love catching the vintage cars in the wild. I caught a real D Type back in January of 2021 but AG does not accept them. I will send you a few pics soon. Thanks as always, buddy. @Hoosier_Exotics

@Horse-Power one of the best classics and I love the look of this one! Red interior would be very nice as well, this when it came out was probably the best looking car in the world but it's reign ended when the miura came along and now I'd say the most beautiful car is the 918 Spyder although I also love the MC20.
